Residents, doctors and nurses want a new Basingstoke hospital. So I have made my views clear to the Health Secretary and he’s agreed to £900million ring fenced, to build a new local hospital for our community.
Thousands of people signed our petition to reduce house building. Now the Borough Council must take responsibility, use the new powers they have been given and cut house building numbers in half, cut traffic jams, and let the NHS catch up.
A lack of school places comes up a lot on the doorstep. We have already built 2 new schools, including one for children with special needs. Now we’ll deliver 2 more. One in Houndsome Fields. One in Manydown. I want every school place, in every Basingstoke school to be good or outstanding.

Over 3,000 residents signed our petition to protect Old Down as a Local Nature Reserve. The Borough Council must now put that legal protection in place. Next I will work with the community and developers on a new rural park for Manydown so more people can live nearer to protected green space.
Residents’ letters and emails are clear, you want to see more police on the streets in your neighbourhood. That’s why we will have a named Police Officer in every community, and more than 650 extra Police officers in the county.
