MP Maria Miller was pleased to attend the opening of the new multi faith prayer room at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. The new multi faith room, which contains special washing facilities for Muslims, is available for patients, staff and visitors to use as part of the Hospital’s chaplaincy service.
The new prayer room was officially opened by the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Cllr Diane Taylor. Alex Whitfield, Chief Executive of the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was also in attendance, along with representatives from a number of faith communities in Basingstoke.
Maria said: “I was delighted to attend the official opening of the new multi faith room, which is a great addition to the Hospital. It is really important to have somewhere for quiet reflection or prayer where patients and their loved ones can come to when facing difficult times and this new room complements the existing chapel for people of all faiths or none.”
